Wilson , Callaway, Titleist, Adams , King Cobra, Yonex, Ping , Taylor Made, Mizuno, and Spaulding are all excellent name brand golf clubs. As a beginning or even a professional golfer, trying to decide which set of golf clubs to purchase, however, may often feel like taking a shot in the dark. In a society that is increasing name brand conscious, many of us are tempted to simply buy what everyone else seems to be buying. Selecting the proper golf clubs, however, is something that you shouldn't do without having a good idea of what types are available and what the specific use of each club is. Using the proper golf club can and will greatly improve your game. Other important things to consider are choosing the right lie and the right shaft flex. The flexibility of the shaft of the the club is known as the bend or flex. If you're a powerful swinger, you'll have more control with less bend. Beginners and less powerful swingers are better off with more flexibility.
If you're new to the game of golf, the first thing you need is a basic set of golf clubs. A basic set will include irons, wedges and putters, drivers, and even though most nongolfers don't believe it, each type of club is designed to improve the speed of your swing and will help you correct faults in your game. Using the right type of golf club is essential and will make the learning process quicker and easier. The first thing to consider when choosing a set of golf clubs is your basic ability level. There are basically three ability levels including: low handicaps, handicaps and high handicaps.
If you're a low-handicap golfer, you generally score less than ten strokes over par. Low-handicap golfers should carry at least one fairway wood and a driver as well as lower irons, and at least 3 wedges, a pitching wedge, sand wedge and either a lob wedge or approach wedge. A mid-handicap golfer in the 11-20 handicap range should add a 7-wood or even a 9-wood to their bag. The fairway woods will provide much better control and consistency than the long irons. Mid-handicap golfers should stick to the 3 and 9-irons and the same wedges recommended above. High-handicap golfers are either new to the game or just haven't mastered the basics and usually shoots over 100. It's highly suggested that high-handicap golfers use the 3-wood for the tee off and add in the 7 and 9-woods. The same wedges would apply that are suggested for the low and mid-handicap golfers.
Today, common concensus is that the most important club you can have in your golf bag is a hybrid. Many golfers have used this club to replace the three-iron. Tour players are even switching to this club. Hybrids to check out include the Taylormade Rescue Mid (which continues to dominate the market and is found in more bags on the tour than any other hybrid), the Nike CPR, and the Ben Hogan CFT. The hybrid is a club that favors the golfer who is generating good clubhead speed, but needs to add to long-iron trajectory. The lower center of gravity in this club produces higher shots while a short shaft will improve control and accuracy.
Drivers and woods are probably the most important clubs in the bag and everybody loves them. Mainly used for longer shots, drivers are usually the first club out of the bag on the tee. Some advanced golfers, however, may decide to use a driver off the fairway is they need a little extra distance. A fairway or metal wood is also used off the tee if you need a more accurate shot or you don't need as much distance as you would get with a driver. This club is a utility club that can also be used in fairway bunkers and tight lies in the rough. The most popular drivers on the market today are the Taylormade r7quad, the Taylormade r5 dual and the Ping G2.
Fairway woods are usually considered the most reliable golf club and seem to be a favorite because they tend to make you look better than you really are. This is a club that is evolving slowly but should definitely have a place in your bag. A fairway wood usually improves a golfer's accuracy and allows him to loft the ball higher. A few favorites include the Cobra SZ and the Calloway Big Bertha.
The iron is a club that is definitely riding on the edge of technology and suprisingly enough is getting less expensive. While this club isn't perfect yet, it's getting there, and most players should be using game improvement irons. These irons stress perimeter weighting, forgiveness and higher trajectory. The three irons that are getting the most attention today are the Ping G2, the Calloway Big Bertha and the Calloway Big Bertha Fusion. Often the most overlooked club in the bag is the wedge. This club, however, is a necessity in every golfer's bag and definitely a trusted friend to every player who's ever been on the tour. The Cleveland CG10, the Titleist Vokey, and the Cleveland 588 are three of the best. The popularity of the wedge is evident in that Cleveland and Titleist have over 112 combined wedge options.
Finally, the putter is a club that has certainly gone high tech and some of the newer Super Mallets look like they belong in Science Fiction movies. Thankfully, though the traditional putters are still performing well and remain favorites. The Super Mallet putters getting the most attention are the Odyssey 2-ball (White Steel), the Ping G2i Craz-E and the TaylorMade Rossa Monza/Mezza Monza. The old standbys of the traditional putters include the Ping G2i, the PING JAS, and the Yes! Golf C-Groove.
Once you have a general understanding of when and why you need to use a certain type of club, there are still many decisions to make before actually making a purchase. Many driving ranges have golf clubs for rent and it may be a good idea to try out a few different clubs before actually making your purchase. Golf clubs, especially the name brands like Titleist, Cleveland and Nike can be very expensive. If you're new to the sport, consider starting out with second hand clubs. If you find a set that fits, you can usually get them for a steal.

For hard-core publicity insiders, though, there's a rhythm to generating coverage, based upon the natural ebb and flow of the seasons. Such an approach can help you score publicity throughout the year, and will help keep your eye on the ball from January through December.
Ball Caps For Women

-Timing your existing stories (new product introductions, oddball promotions, business page features, etc.) to fit the needs of the media during particular times of the year.
-Craftingnew stories to take advantage of events, holidays and seasonal activities.
Before we run through the four seasons of publicity, a few words about lead time. In this age of immediacy (only a few seconds to Matt Drudge or separately to CNN from writing a story and putting it before millions), it's easy to forget that, for many print publications and TV shows, it can be weeks--and sometimes months--before a completed story sees the light of day.
The phrase lead time simply refers to the amount of time needed for a journalist to complete a story for a particular issue of a magazine or episode of a TV news program. For example, a freelancer for an entertainment magazine may need to turn in a story on Christmas movies by September 15. That's a lead time of three months, timeneeded for the editor to review and change the piece, the issue to be typeset and printed and distributors to place the issues on newsstands before December. Lead time can range from a day (for hard news pieces in newspapers) to a few days (newspaper features) to a few weeks (weekly magazines) to many months.
The longest leads are the domain of "women's books like Good Housekeeping and Better Homes & Gardens. These publications often have a lead time of up to six months, which means they need information for their Christmas issues as early as May!
Here's a tip to help you discover the lead time of a particular publication you're targeting: call the advertising department of the publication and request a media kit. Since advertisers need to know when their ads must besubmitted, each issue's lead time is clearly stated in the media kit.
Factor the lead time into your planning as you look over the following sections. If you have a great story idea for Rolling Stone's summer issues, you need to be on the ball well before Memorial Day.
The Four Seasons of Publicity:
First Quarter: January-March
What the Media's Covering: Early in the year, the media is looking ahead. It's a great time to pitch trend stories, predictions, previews of marketplace things to expect in the year ahead, etc. If a new President is being inaugurated, you'll see lots of "Will the new administration be good for the (textile/film/cattle ranching/Internet/... or any other) industry?" types of pieces. This is a good time to have something provocative, oreven controversial, to say about your industry.
The media also likes this time of year to run "get your personal house in order" sorts of pieces. Tax planning, home organizing, weight loss, etc. Anything that's geared toward helping people keep their New Year's resolutions can work here.
Key Dates and Events: Can you come up with a story angle to tie your business into an event that typically generates lots of coverage? Put on your thinking cap--I bet you can! Here are some key events during the First Quarter: Super Bowl, NCAA Tournament, Easter, The Academy Awards.
Second Quarter: April-June
What the Media's Covering: An "anything goes" time of year. With no major holidays or huge events, April is a good time to try some of your general stories(business features, new product stuff, etc.) Light, fun stories work here, as a sense of "spring fever" takes hold of newsrooms (journalists are human, you know. They're just as happy winter is over as you are and it's often reflected in the kind of stories they choose to run). As May rolls around, thoughts turn to summer. Now they're looking for summer vacation pieces, outdoor toys and gadgets, stories about safety (whether automotive or recreational), leisure activities, things to do for kids and so on.
Key Dates and Events: Baseball opening day, tax day (April 15), spring gardening season, Memorial Day, end of school, summer vacation.
Third Quarter: July-September
What the Media's Covering: The dog days of summer are when smart publicity seekers really makehay. Folks at PR firms are on vacation, marketing budgets are being conserved for the holidays and reporters are suddenly accessible and open to all sorts of things. Get to work here, with creative, fun angles. Entertainment-themed pieces do well in the summer, anything with celebrities works, lighter business stories, new products, trend pieces, technology news, back to school education-themed articles, you name it. Reporters are about to get deluged once again as September, so use this window of opportunity wisely.
Key Dates and Events: July 4th, summer movies, summer travel, back to school.
Fourth Quarter: October-December
What the Media's Covering: The busiest time of the media calendar, the Fourth Quarter is when the business media turns serious and thelifestyle media thinks Holidays, Holidays, Holidays. Business angles need to be hard news. Fluffy trend pieces won't cut it, as business editors begin to take stock of the state of the economy and the market. It's a tough time to put out a new product release. For the non-business media, think Christmas. Christmas travel, Christmas gifts, Christmas, cooking, whatever. If you have a product or service that can be given as a holiday gift, get on the stick early.
Nail down lead times for the publications you're targeting, call to find out who's handling the holiday gift review article and get your product in the right person's hands in plenty of time--along with a pitch letter or release that makes a strong case about how what a novel, unusual or essential gift your productmakes. After Christmas, you have a brief window for "Best of the Year", "" Worst of the Year "and" Year in Review "pieces. Be creative--the media loves these things.
Key Dates and Events: Labor Day, World Series, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year's Eve.

My beautiful little daughter Ashleigh has faced challenges and difficulties that would make most adults stay curled up in bed in a ball. "Little" to "as we called her has the most positive outlook on life that anyone could want. What follows are some of the highlights of her young determined life. If you read the first article you already know she has some great qualities that were displayed at a young age. Picking up at age 4 she showed us ...
Bravery
Ball Caps For Women
We learned at age 4 Ashleigh's molars were starting to decay. The dentist informed us she was born with no enamel on her teeth and that all her baby molars needed to be capped with stainless steel until her adult teeth grew in. This procedure required she be put to sleep to insert the caps. Ashleigh is very strong mindedand as I have said extremely determined. When she was given the drug to put her to sleep she resisted its effects and remained awake. The dentist was not willing to increase the dose as she was a very small 4 year old. That trip to the dentist was wasted. It took several different visits to various dentists before finding one that simply was able to numb her mouth and insert the caps one at a time over several visits. Ashleigh faced all the pain and dentist visits without complaint. Once the caps were in place she could again eat without it hurting.

Shortly after the caps were in place the family dentist discovered another issue with Ashleigh's teeth. She had no "buds" for the adult teeth. Meaning she would only have the babymolars the rest of her life. The only adult teeth she would have would be the front ones. This news was paired with a prediction on the gap between her front teeth. This gap the dentist felt would always be an issue as the muscle was over grown and at some future date need to be surgically removed. Ashleigh at each little snippet of bad news would just smile and say "At least I've got my steel teeth" or "At least it can be fixed". She chose to only see the good in her life not the bad.
Never Give Up
The next challenge Ashleigh faced started when she was 8 years old. She began complaining of stomach pain to the point of missing school. She then began to loose weight and her body stopped processing fatty foods. She was sent to a children's hospital and a specialist. Ashleigh had vial after vial of blood drawn. Test after painful test preformed. No answers and she still was losing weight. Her complexion became pale, her eyes sunken with dark rings around them. My beautiful little girl was dying right in front of me and no one had a clue as to why. Her mother is an ICU nurse and had asked to doctors to treat her lack of processing fatty foods with an artificial enzyme. Her thoughts were to stabilize Ashleigh's weight and then worry about the why is she sick. All the while these tests were done as an out patient, meaning she was still attending school and doing assignments. She many times went to school right after the tests. Never once wanting to miss school. I missed more work over her tests than she missed school! She was having blood drawn weekly and got so used to it that she just stuck her arm out waiting on the needle. After being sent to yet another hospital and stopping short of exploratory surgery, the doctor finally prescribed the enzyme Ashleigh needed. By this time she had lost 30% of her original weight and was a walking skeleton. The first down side to the medicine was the amount she had to take. As this medicine only replaced what her body was not producing she had to take 3 pills with every meal and 2 with any snack. An 8 year old swallowing pills is rare and Ashleigh had to struggle with this until she learned. Missing a dose resulted in pain as her body could not handle any fatty food on its own. Over the next 4 years Ashleigh took the pills till one day her body began another revolt.
Accept responsibility and make changes
After 4 years of the pills her body flipped around and began putting on weight like a bear going in to hibernation. The enzyme made her body super efficient in digesting and storing fat. This weight gain became an embarrassment for Ashleigh. Being in dance and having to wear tight skimpy costumes she wanted to loose weight. Stopping the pills had no effect other than stopping the weight gain. So the little trooper Ashleigh has become she with her mommy's help learned the Weight Watcher's Point System and convinced the owner of a women's only exercise studio to allow her to join in spite of her young age. The owner graciously agreed and Ashleigh commenced to exercising three days a week as well as keeping track of the points associated with her daily food consumption. Ashleigh exercised after school and soon became an inspiration for the older women in the exercise studio. Ashleigh got her name up on a "wall of fame" week after week as she consistently had great weight loss numbers. In fact several times she was the leader in weekly loss. Ashleigh being something of a social butterfly would talk to and inspire the other women while they waited on a machine to become free for use. As the women began to associate leader board name with the person they would ask for tips and advice from a 12 year old on weight loss. Since the club was a women's only I had to sit outside and wait while Ashleigh exercised. Often as other women left the building I would hear them comment on the success of the "little girl" they had just met. Nothing makes a parent more proud than the over-heard compliment about one of your children.

Business Owners - Are You a Walking Billboard For Your Business?
Take a look at your shirt right now. Does it have a logo or advertisement for your favorite brand? Are you walking around advertising your favorite brand of running shoes? Your favorite sports team? I'm not talking about just men here. Women do it too. Women walk around advertising handbags made by name brand companies. They wear shirts, belts and shoes with the name of a business on them. If you are a small business owner I want to you stop right now walking around advertising someone else's products, services, or business.
Promoting your business does not have to be expensive. Every day people are looking at you and your employees. It only takes 15 seconds for someone to look at you and form an opinion. So, while they are looking at you and forming an opinion why not let them see your business name, your name, and your logo.
Ball Caps For Women
Starting today I want you to use my five tips to develop your presence and promote your business.
1. Wear a name tag. Name tags are a very inexpensive way to market your business. You can purchase a name tags for you and your employees in various colors and sizes. They typically cost less than each.
2. Ball cap. If your industry takes you and your employees outside a ball cap may serve a dual purpose. It can protect your face from the harmful rays of the sun while promoting your business. You will want to choose a color that is in your business color scheme. Your logo or business name can be prominently displayed on the cap so that everyone can see where employees work for or what you do.
3. Polo shirt. I am not a fan of t-shirts because I think they promote a sloppy appearance and you do not want potential customers to think you are sloppy or perform sloppy work. Polo shirts can be used to adopt a professional appearance. They can be dressed up or down. Polo shirts come in an array of colors and fabrics. The person that designs your name tag can probably embroidery your logo and/or business name on to a polo or dress shirt.
4. Tote bag. Tote bags come in various sizes and styles. If you are going to be carrying a backpack or purse you can switch to a tote bag in your business colors and be a walking billboard for your business. Many times a brief case is not large enough to carry client files or your portfolio. A tote bag with your business logo on the side will promote a polished image while being an affordable option when carrying items that are too large for a brief case. It could even serve as your laptop case.
5. Jacket. I often see people wearing jackets with their favorite university or sports team on them. I suggest you invest in a nice seasonal jacket with your logo on it.
Investing in clothing, name tags, caps, or tote bags are very inexpensive. Many times you are already purchasing similar items to complete your seasonal wardrobe. I challenge you to pick up a uniform catalog and look at the prices of the items. I did not realize how inexpensive they were until I received several of these catalogs and noticed the quality of the items and how they come in many different styles. There is no need for a woman business owner to wear a man's sloppy t-shirt. These catalogs have scarves, short sleeve, long sleeve, sleeveless, silk, and various fabric blends of tops and blouses. It does not matter what your industry these catalogs have great items that will help you promote your business as you conduct your day to day activities.
I encourage you to stop wearing clothing that promotes the great big name brand companies and start promoting your own business. Investing in self promotion is a great way to help your business grow while remaining debt free.

The second win was in Mexico in 1986. Argentina faced off against West Germany, ending in a 3-2 win. Brazil
This is the only country to have played in every single World Cup and they have also won the most times, with five wins under their belt. In 1958, the country`s team played Sweden in that team`s home country, crushing them 5-2. The following year, Brazil beat Czechoslovakia in a Chilean hosted World Cup, 3-1.
The country played in Mexico in 1970 and won 4-1 against Italy, then they had a losing streak until 1994, when Italy played against them again, this time in the US. Brazil won 3-2 via penalty shots after the game ended in a no goal tie.
Their final victory was in 2002, when South Korea and Japan hosted the World Cup. Brazil beat Germany 2-0.
England
England has won just once in 1966. The country played the final round against West Germany and beat them 4-2. That year, the World Cup was also hosted in England.
France
This is another country with only one win down. They won in 1998, playing against Brazil in their home country of France, 3-0.
Germany
Germany has won the Cup 3 times. The first was in 1954, in Switzerland. They played Hungary and won 3-2. The next time wasn`t until West Germany hosted the Cup and they beat the Netherlands 2-1. Their final victory was against Argentina, playing in Italy. The final score was 1-0.
Italy For the moment, Italy is the reigning champion. They have four wins so far. They first won in 1934, at the second World Cup which was hosted by Italy. The win was 2-1 against Czechoslovakia.
Italy also won the next championship in France, 1938, playing against Hungary. The final score was 4-2. They didn`t win again until 1982 when the Cup was hosted by Spain, beating West Germany 3-1. At the last Cup, held in Germany, Italy played France in the final round and tied 1-1. The end win was determined with penalty shots, which they won 5-3.
Uruguay
The Uruguay football team has won twice in the history of World Cup. They also have the noted honor of being the very first winners, in 1930, when the tournament was held in Uruguay. They won against Argentina 4-2.
In the 1950 competition, the country`s team once again took the Cup, winning against Brazil, 2-1. However, it`s important to note that there was no official competition this year . . . the win was decided in a round robin between Uruguay, Brazil, Sweden and Spain.
The World Cup has a long history of excellence in football/soccer. The next one will be held in South Africa in 2010.

Wristbands provide support to the wrist, which is one of the most stressed parts of athletes. Most athletes especially those who play games where wrist work is involved use them as protective measures.
Special wristbands have been designed for gymnasts, which are worn under the gymnastics grip. Wristbands help to control friction burn from bar grips used by gymnasts. These exclusively developed wristbands are made of cotton and terry cloth that are helpful in absorbing sweat too. These wristbands are available in many colors, different sizes and are washable. Gymnasts also use heavy-duty solid cotton 4.5-inch bands, which are thicker and longer than terry cloth wristband. These bands are mainly sold in pairs. Some of them also use the colorful 3.5-inch Neoprene wristbands. Wrist protectors are most popular amongst gymnasts. Wrist-pros are highly reliable and durable for wrist protection, tapered for a snug fit and extra long at nearly 5inches. Wrist-pros are lined with terry cloth to absorb perspiration.
Ball Caps For Women
A friction-enhancing wristband has been a recent innovation in athlete wristbands. Friction enhancing wristbands are designed with an elastic moisture-absorbing sleeve having a high friction surface over a major portion of the wristband. The friction surface provides an extra grip whereby a ball, such as a football, when gripped between the wristband and the wearer's body does not drop out easily.

Keep your cool in this lightweight, vented cap. Omni-Shade protects your scalp from damaging UV rays, while a breathable, wicking sweatband keeps the sweat off your brow. Find the perfect fit by adjusting the hook-and-loop closure at center back.

Making Your Own Count Dracula Costume is Easy!
Dressing up in a Count Dracula costume is quite easy but will require quite a lot of makeup. What I mean to say is that getting the costume and all the other accessories is not difficult but actually appearing as Dracula overall may be a bit of a headache because of all the tiny details involved.
This outfit should preferably be a three piece one. It should consist of a pant and a shirt along with an inner jacket. The pant should be black in color while the shirt must be white. The dinner jacket should be black too. Remember, Count Dracula was always dressed up in formal wear so you'll need to keep that in mind as you plan your costume.

Now the other main part of the outfit is a long robe with a high collar. The collars should be stiff enough so that you can put them up, as in unfold the collar and keep it pointed upwards with no additional help from you. The robe should be long, almost floor length, black on the outside and red on the inside. And if possible the robe should mostly be velvety to touch.

Under the noontime sun, your head takes the brunt of the heat and UV rays. Keep cool and sunburn-free from trailhead to peak and back in this vented Omni-Shade cap. The Ravenous features a unique flow-trough venting system on front crown that uses open-ended layers of UPF 30 fabric instead of non-sun-protecting mesh. The fabric is also lightweight, incredibly breathable, and cools your skin with Omni-Freeze technology. The women’s specific fit can be adjusted to perfection with the hook-and-loop back closure.

Make sure that most of the clothing which you buy for your Count Dracula costume is made of cotton so that you do not feel so hot and sweaty all night long. Remember, Vampires don't sweat! The velvet robe is usually quite heavy so instead of using a robe, if you want to go this route, you can also use a plain black dinner jacket but I would suggest you opt for the robe because that gives everyone a better perception of who you are dressed up as - Count Dracula.
The next thing you need to do is buy a red colored belt to tie around your waist. Instead of the belt, you can also use a wide red colored ribbon. The belt or ribbon, whatever you choose to wear, should be as shiny as possible in appearance and very formal looking. Also, you really need to wear a black colored bowtie to go with your Count Dracula Halloween costume. Remember, the bow tie is an integral part to dressing up as the Count.
Now for the facial makeup. First, you need to have a very pale appearance. So cover your entire face with quite a bit of white powder and then top it off with a little red rouge on the cheeks. You can also thicken your eyebrows with black eyeliner or black paint. Also, remember to use eyeliner for the eyes to make them really stand out.
Another characteristic appearance of vampires in general is their pointy fang like teeth. You can easily purchase one of these fake teeth sets for about or so at any costume store. These come in plastic and can easily be put in and removed from your mouth. Do make sure that these are as white as possible. And if you want to go for something even nicer, there are many kinds of fangs available online that are almost dentist caps quality.
Now the next thing is to paint the sides of the mouth to look as if blood were dripping from it. Just use a little red fake blood and make sort of drop like marks in succession from the sides. Four to five drops of fake blood would easily suffice. As for the Count Dracula costume, I am sure you probably already own a white shirt and black pants and all the rest can be bought at a costume store or a second hand store more than likely.
So, what's left? Well, let's clear up the missing pieces. If I were you I would think about things like shoes. As for the shoes, black dress ones would do perfectly - or any dark color would do but I think black would be most formal. Next, what about your hair? Easy enough? Guys, to appear as close to Count Dracula as possible then your hair must be pulled back completely. Best of all, give your hair one of those mob looks. Use hair gel to hold your back in place, combed back from your face and as close as possible to your scalp. Perfect!
Lastly, at most of the costume stores, online or off, you can also just buy a complete Count Dracula costume, but this will be a more expensive option up front. But the best part of this is that you probably will get just about everything you need to appear as Count Dracula all in one step - without all the searching from store to store. So this method is a huge timesaver!
So, there, you are now ready to easily create your own Count Dracula costume. And to break it down, just remember that you have two basic choices on getting started - you can buy a pre-done Count Dracula costume which saves you time, but costs a bit more up front, or you can create a Count Dracula Halloween costume based on what items you already own or can easily borrow and then buy the pieces needed to complete the costume.
Finally, I hope that the tips above are helpful to you in creating your very own Count Dracula costume. Not only is Count Dracula a wonderful costume to wear but since vampires are so popular right now you'll be both on top of the trends as well as ahead of them by wearing a costume that depicts the leader in this genre! If you love horror and movies then you couldn't do better than dressing up as Count Dracula. Happy Halloween!

Couples Costume Ideas
Couples costume ideas for Halloween are just fun. It's always good to match your mate, especially when you go to a costume party or are wandering around in the dark! The first step in selecting costumes is to decide what theme you want to dress in - spooky, sexy or just fun-loving. There are many costumes for couples available in all three.
Spooky Costumes
Ball Caps For Women
The Gothic Vampire and the Gothic Vampira is a classic match. Custom Vampire Fangs in Coffin are a great accessory for men and women usually prefer the "Love Bites" Deluxe Custom Fangs which comes in a heart box. The fangs just slip onto your original teeth which is way more comfortable than a plastic mouthpiece.
The costume is perfectly complemented with the Modern Vampire Wig for the man and either the Goth Vampira Wig or the Vamp Wig for the lady. Add a lovely piece of jewelry, perhaps the Blood Stone set, after all, even a lady of the night needs her jewels. Liquid blood caps and the Everlasting Kiss Kit top off the costumes. If you are into shoes, like I am, you will appreciate the black and red Vampyra adult shoes with an open toe.
If you don't want to be bloodsuckers, you might be interested in the Mummy King and Mummy Queen outfits or the Skeleton Zombie outfit matched with the Mummy Bride. For engaged or married people, the Corpse Groom and the Corpse Bride are a favorite. Make sure to make it realistic with the black rose bouquet for the corpse bride.
Sexy Couples Costumes
The Handsome Devil Elite costume is great for a man and it is even better with his girl dressed in the Devil's Delight costume on his arm.
Of course military costumes are attractive, and you've got to admit a Sailor's uniform is quite striking. Take a look at the Seafaring Sailor costume and the matching Sexy Sailor Adult Costume for women, complemented by the Matey Shoes. Don't you love the matching shoes? They are cute, ladies! They are blue and white "Matey" peep-toe shoes with a white bow topped by a red anchor, "Anchors Away " in these hot heels!
If you are into sports, the Pleated Penalizer Referee costume accompanied by those cute Taylor Boots, that are actually sneakers, goes great with the Tight End Adult Costume or the Everlast Boxer outfit. No unnecessary roughness going on here, Ref.
Robin Hood and Robyn Hood also make a great couple and Renaissance costumes are always a popular choice. Bring some gold coins for Robin to give to the poor (your friends!), after all, isn't that what he is famous for?
Fun Loving Couples Costumes
Now, couples costume ideas just wouldn't be complete without the Ball and Chain costume. This costume actually connects the couple with a strap. It is detachable of course. Great for those newly weds with a sense of humor.
The Plug and Socket costume is also very popular along with the Bacon and Eggs. You know, they just go together. These are sure to get a genuine laugh out of everyone. Perhaps you will win as the funniest costume of the party.
If you want to go back in time and look "groovy", you will love the Babe Adult Costume for Couples. It simulates Sonny and Cher and reminds us of the good old " I Got You Babe" days. If there is a grooviest prize, consider it won with this duo's costume.

"Funny Words"
Do you have a bright second-grader who seems to be having trouble with reading? It may be because he or she is "seeing" the words instead of hearing them. However, sometimes with the strange spellings of the English language, this can be an advantage. Here is a way to help this child make a transition to both seeing and hearing - essential for reading skills. Numbers refer to commentary at end. (1)

Here is a short, dramatic vignette that illustrates how a visual Second Grader can make the transition from seeing words on the printed page to hearing the words she or he already knows.
Characters: Eddie: a bright, lively boy who has just returned home from school, where he is in the Second Grade. He is Becky's older brother. (See earlier Post, " P - P - P - Patterns for Reading.")
Christine: a Stay-At-Home Mom who is on leave from her job as an elementary school teacher.
It is 3:30PM and Eddie is tearing into a plate of fruit, milk and cookies while his Mom talks to him. She says, "How was school?" Eddie answers," OK. Where's Becky?" Christine says, " She's resting."
Eddie says, " She's still resting? What's the matter with her?" Christine answers, " She's tired from her cold. But you have a play date today with Jordan. Eddie says, "I forgot." He quickly crams the rest of the food in his mouth, finishes his milk and jumps up. Christine answers, "Wait, honey. I want to hear what you did today."
Eddie says,
" You mean besides Recess and Lunch?" Christine laughs as she clears away the food. Then says, "Yes. That's what I mean. We have about 20 minutes. Why don't you show me your homework?" Eddie replies, "Oops, I think I forgot it." Christine says, "Don't tease me. Where is it?" Eddie says, " It has to do with reading 'Funny Words.'" He takes out a crumpled piece of paper from a folder. Christine smoothes it out.
Christine says, "What did you do? Eat this?" Eddie grabs it and pretends to put it in his mouth. Then says, "No. You want me to eat it now?" Christine answers, "No." She takes the paper back. This is kind of fun. Look at these words. Can you sound them out?
Christine hands him the paper. It says
StarlIGHT
StarbrIGHT
First Star I see tonIGHT
I wish I may,
I wish I mIGHT
Have the wish
I wish tonIGHT.
Eddie reads very slowly, "Star li-gget, Star bri-gget, first star I see to-n-igget, I wish I may, I wish I.....mi-gget, have the wish I wish to n-iigget. This doesn't make sense. " Christine answers, " You're right, but you read what you saw. Did the teacher have anyone read in class?" (3)
Eddie answers, "No. She said we were supposed to try at home." Christine says, "So let's try. What part of the reading made no sense? Eddie answers, "All those "iggets." (4)
Christine says, " Try this. Instead of saying 'Star li-gget' say 'Star light.'" Eddie says, '" Star light.' That's better." Christine says, "Now, put a circle around all the caps at the end of each word, and say "ite" instead of "igget." Christine hands him a crayon. Eddie encircles all the groups of capital letters, and reads more easily. Eddie says, " Star light, Star bright, first star I see to-n-ight, I wish I may I wish I might, Have the wish I wish tonight." (5)
Christine says, "Great!" Eddie says, "OK. But why did they write it that crazy way in the first place?" Christine explains, "A long time ago, some English language sounded and looked different than it does today. So some words we have to learn. But once you know how "IGHT" sounds in these words, you can say it easily. There's a whole group of them. Fight, Light, Might, which you already know, and others, like Sight, Tight. (6)
Eddie asks, "What about 'Bite'"? (7)
Christine answers, "Not that one! But you learned a lot already. Let's go out on the porch and wait for Jordan."
Eddie says, "Not 'Bite.' Figures. "(8)
He follows his mother out to the porch.
COMMENTARY
(1) Research on the process of teaching children to read mentions phonological awareness (recognizing language sounds) Cunningham, 1990, and print awareness (making the transition from speech and hearing to text on the paper) Ball & Blachman, 1988. This involves the child's ability to recognize the relationship between what he or she hears, and what she or he sees. An auditory child will tend to start with patterns in the spoken sounds, and a visual child will tend to start with patterns formed by the written symbols on the page. The order really doesn't matter as long as both types of children make the necessary transition.
(2) Instead of stating rules, I like to follow the lead of the child and call the many exceptions in English spelling "Funny Words." Most children are happy to agree!
(3) Christine knows that Eddie's teacher welcomes independent activity, especially with some help from an adult.
(4) Eddie's teacher has been teaching word sounds, but the four repeated capital letters in the poem need to be memorized, and their correct sound is much easier to say than trying to sound out this letter group one by one.
(5) It's easy for Eddie to recognize the shape of the letter group, especially if it is in capital letters.
(6) This is a "rule" but Christine eased Eddie into it.
(7) Already an exception. Another common one is "Kite."
(8) It's a little much for him!
